Hydrant is seeking a finance guru with a razor-sharp analytical mind who can blend our data into insights. The Strategic Finance Manager will provide critical business insights through an in-depth analysis of core financial metrics. You will help the team make key strategic financial decisions as our business scales.

You are a hard-working, detail-oriented, data-driven person looking for an opportunity to drive change in the wellness industry. You are flexible, creative, and solutions-oriented. You must have strong communication skills as you will help the team present leadership and investor level reporting.

You will be responsible for monthly reporting and partnering with each department on budgeting and forecasting. This role will also perform ad-hoc analysis to support our high-growth atmosphere and will be a key contributor to externally reported financials and board of directors materials. This role will report to the President.

This is the perfect role for hungry, analytical team-players who want to develop as leaders of CPG companies or start their own businesses. You will devise the strategy, build frameworks, structure solutions, and drive and measure results in the most critical areas of the business while developing as a future leader of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver daily, weekly and monthly leadership level reporting, evaluating the key operating metrics of the core business
  • Manage our Sr. FP&A analyst to build, maintain, and actualize complex financial and analytical data models
  • Run ad-hoc analyses and special projects, working with large data sets to assess business performance and inform key business decisions
  • Identify financial trends by comparing and analyzing actual results versus plans and forecasts
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders across each department in order to provide strategic solutions to prioritization issues that arise
  • Track, report, and measure progress against initiatives with the goal of showing how we're tracking against company objectives
  • Contributing to the annual budget, mid-year forecast, and monthly variance analysis
  • Partnering with key business areas to perform strategic analysis and modeling to help inform department-specific spending and decisions
  • Analyzing competitor performance and market trends
  • Establishing and reporting key operating metrics used to drive the business to greater efficiency
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards that measure performance for various projects
  • Assisting in preparation of materials for investor meetings
  • Building frameworks and developing plans – help take a business objective or goal and break it down into a cohesive plan – identify specific areas of opportunity through analysis, understand the drivers behind them, set metrics to focus on, and layout goals and milestones that will get us there
  • Play a key role in managing various vendors and communicating key insights to business partners including members of the Hydrant leadership team

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of investment banking or FP&A management position in retail, wholesale or e-commerce with heavy inventory requirements, and have owned the modeling of those cash flows
  • Major plus if you are proficient with SQL
  • Superb attention to detail is a must
  • Analytical and ambitious people, with a desire to learn and grow rapidly
  • An analytical, creative thinker who can focus on the details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Passionate about retail and direct-to-consumer businesses
  • Intellectually curious with keen analytical and quantitative skills, ability to pull data and use it to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • You love learning about relevant metrics that could help us grow our business more efficiently
  • Structured thinkers, with strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Willingness to get hands dirty and do whatever it takes to ensure success
  • Highly detail-oriented and takes pride in producing exceptional deliverables
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally and hold people accountable against their deadline
