Reporting directly to our Controller, the Staff Accountant will be charged with running critical verticals within our daily financial operations. S/he will ensure that Knotel’s accounting function is accurate and timely while partnering with other teams across the organization. Knotel’s team embraces curiosity, integrity, hospitality and tenacious problem-solving, and the Staff Accountant will contribute to this culture while pushing us to innovate and do our best work.
What You’ll Do
- Own aspects of the monthly close, including preparing account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Build scalable, controlled processes that elevate our Finance team
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to run the accounts payable function
- Efficiently process vendor payments and expense reimbursements
- Perform other critical accounting tasks, including bank and credit card reconciliations, expense tracking, creating and distributing monthly invoices, and ad-hoc reporting
Who You Are
You are a “numbers person” and a “people person” who is immaculately organized and always looking for more efficient ways of doing things. You bring energy and new ideas to your work, and leverage them to build strong relationships with colleagues across different teams. You’re skilled when it comes to translating finance and accounting language into layman’s terms, and you’re comfortable doing so with groups of any size. You also have the following:
- A degree in finance, accounting, or economics
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in both public and private accounting
- Experience with NetSuite, Expensify, and QuickBooks (preferred but not required)
