VP of Finance

We’re seeking a VP of Finance who will be responsible for the entire purview of the Finance Team including FP&A, accounting, and board/investor relations. Reporting to the COO, the VP of Finance will play an integral role in setting company strategy while ensuring the overall financial health of the business. The ideal candidate will have prior experience leading a SaaS startup through periods of rapid growth.


  • Own the primary financial model of the company upon which key business decisions are made
  • Work closely with the Executive Team and department VPs advising on strategy, reporting, and budgeting
  • Prepare financial materials for external stakeholders (e.g., Board of Directors, potential investors) that align with company strategy
  • Lead financial due diligence for fundraising efforts, large contracts, partnerships, and M&A negotiations
  • Compare financial forecasts to actual financial performance, interpret results and variances, and give guidance on necessary course corrections
  • Formalize and implement monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting process and goal tracking with team leads
  • Ensure that the company continuously remains on a sound financial footing by implementing company policies and best practices
  • Develop and improve dashboards to track company and team KPIs; identify trends and proactively engage with team leads to stay ahead of the curve
  • Build and manage a best-in-class finance team; train and retain top talent as the business grows and needs evolve
  • Provide ongoing analysis to support cross departmental business decisions such as pricing optimization, resource allocation, and go-to-market strategies
  • Manage cap table, track company capitalization, and prepare associated reports
  • Implement and optimize internal operations such as banking, accounts payable and receivable, bookkeeping, taxes, expenses, and commissions
  • Own and manage company business operations with external vendors regarding taxes, legal, insurance; evaluate opportunities to bring in-house when necessary
  • Uphold BentoBox’s core mission, vision, and values

Skills and Attributes

  • Highly operational leader who can own the full breadth of financial responsibilities for a rapidly growing SaaS startup
  • A modeling expert who can move quickly from discussing the details of a department’s financial model to high-level, long-term company goals and strategy.
  • Relevant experience at a venture-backed, early/growth stage SaaS startup
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt communication style to varying audiences
  • Experience building, training, and managing a team
  • SaaS experience and/or detailed knowledge of SaaS metrics
  • Impeccable ethical standards and integrity
  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Finance or Economics
  • 8+ years in a Finance role with significant experience managing a team
  • Nice to haves: CPA and/or MBA
