Job Description:

We are seeking a Full-Stack Engineer to join the Production Support Engineering team to help support the full suite of enterprise-class web applications and third-party integrations that power the core LearnVest experience. The candidate must have extensive experience working in structured environments following defined development and support methodologies and be able to propose new ones as necessary.

Leveraging a thorough knowledge of front-end and middle-tier technologies, the candidate will work in a collaborative environment to troubleshoot/debug issues, implement solutions and deploy to production by following (and establishing) best practices.

Our current tech stack includes: HTML/CSS, Backbone.js, React, Node.js, PHP, MySQL, Java/Spring, AWS, Linux, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the existing application stack supporting our public facing websites and internal tools.
  • Debug the hardest of problems and design robust solutions to prevent them from happening in the future.
  • Propose and implement solutions to proactively reduce/prevent downtime, system outages, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide best practices and share knowledge with the rest of the organization.
  • Contribute to documentation and operational plans.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional web application development experience.
  • 2+ years of Node.js experience.
  • In-depth working knowledge of JavaScript and familiarity with frameworks/libraries such as express/koa, react, gulp, webpack, babel etc.
  • Experience with Single Page Application development using a major SPA framework such as AngularJS, EmberJS, or Backbone.js etc.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript unit testing tools such as Jasmine, Karma, Mocha etc.
  • Experience with templating languages like Jade, EJS, Handlebars etc and CSS preprocessors/frameworks such as LESS, SASS, Bootstrap/Foundation.
  • Knowledge of Web Application Architecture/Technical Design (idiomatic RESTful web service design, OOP class design, performance/bottleneck analysis, etc).
  • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.
  • Experience with one or more of the following backend languages: Java, PHP, Python, Ruby.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AWS, Docker, Vagrant, Ansible etc.
