Job Summary
We are seeking a VP, Head of Data to lead our team of talented data professionals, define an organization wide approach to data, and drive the evolution of how data is used to increase the performance and competitiveness of Effectv's business. This role reports into the Head of Technology and has direct management oversight of data engineering, data architecture, data operations, data science, data analytics, and data governance teams that design, build, and operate technology architecture, solutions, and software to capture, manage, store, and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources. Data is the lifeblood of our business and as the Head of Data, your vision, leadership, and execution will help shape the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our business through data-driven decision-making. You will be responsible for the holistic lifecycle of our data assets, how we integrate and enhance data from third parties and activate that data to drive our business and deliver our results to our clients. You and your team manage data creation, governance, activation, analytics, quality controls and data protection practices while providing learning and analysis to derive valuable insights and guide our business growth. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data utilization and develop innovative product solutions for our clients. Your broad expertise in data management, machine learning, and statistical analysis will be invaluable in building and shaping a data-driven culture across the organization. Additionally, you will be accountable to lead a high functioning data governance practice that ensures ongoing quality, stability, and reliability of data Effectv will use within our business. Responsible for crafting, managing, and directing the delivery of the overall data vision and data roadmap for Effectv; how the organization will leverage data, information and processes to facilitate critical decision making for the business, and then leading the execution of work to achieve that vision across data architecture, engineering, operations, data science, data analytics, and data governance, and through close cross functional partnership with product management and across the business. The successful candidate will drive change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results. As the leader accountable for the transformation of Effectv's data assets and administration of meaningful data governance practices, the VP will engage with, educate, and influence executive leadership and other key business stakeholders, guiding the adoption and establishment of division/group/company-wide processes that make sense for Effectv and draw upon broad outside knowledge and best practices.

Core Responsibilities
Vision & Leadership

  • Craft and communicate a highly strategic, relevant, and valuable vision to the broader organization and Effectv leadership that meaningfully increases our trajectory to have clean, reliable, understood, and highly useable and accessible data.
  • Collaborate and influence across the business and within your team to gain buy in and understanding of the vision and create a culture of accountability to support delivery of that vision.
  • Communicates and collaborates with business leaders and stakeholders to understand data and analysis needs arising from the business and integrates these needs into the transformation plan.
  • Accountable for delivering a highly productive data governance process with full engagement from the business - guiding them through the governance process to arrive at that outcome.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and deliver actionable insights through data analysis and reporting, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Develops goals, strategies and plans linked to broader organizational objectives to achieve the vision.

Delivery Excellence

  • Prioritize, plan, build and execute software and data systems that process, store, connect, and serve business-critical data for use by others.
  • Build structured and unstructured data resources and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data that help generate insights and address reporting needs of the organization.
  • Ensure your team develops data collection frameworks, data warehouses and data lakes, data access application programming interfaces (APIs), and implementation of solutions via data architecture, data engineering, or data manipulation within technical platforms.
  • Deliver results through successful and meaningful data governance processes to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security that evolves appropriately with the business.
  • Lead your team to develop strategies for data acquisition, protection, archive recovery, retention, and database implementation.
  • Directs the continuing review of all current systems/applications and formulation of future systems/applications to efficiently accomplish business purposes within budget.
  • Drives strategic re-platforming efforts to scalable cloud-based data platforms.
  • Defines and implements processes to maintain high data quality standards including data cleansing,
  • validation, and enrichment.
  • Directs the development of design standards and assurance processes for software, systems and applications to ensure compatibility and proper operation of internal systems and feeds to/from external sources.
  • Directs teams to preemptively recognize and resolve technical issues utilizing knowledge of policies and processes, react to system notification and logs to ensure quality standards and continuous improvement.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure and monitor data operations performance, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stays updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices, driving innovation and continuous improvement within data operations.

Team Leadership

  • Identifies, attracts, nurtures, and develops talent at all levels of your organization.
  • Creates a culture of ownership and accountability within your leadership and their teams.
  • Establishes organization structure and standards of excellence that your team and the teams they work with in technology, product, and business can leverage to increase output quality.
  • Develops and communicates goals, strategies and plans linked to broader organizational objectives to achieve the vision across the data team.
  • Leads system improvements that create cost and business performance efficiencies.
  • Ensures data technical and process systems comply with relevant security policies and data protection regulations protecting sensitive data.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability translating data insights into actionable strategies and recommendations.
  • Hands-on expertise with data analytics, CRM, and visualization tools and platforms such as Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, HubSpot, Google Data Studio, and Google Analytics.
  • Understanding of and experience working with big data technologies and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure). Databricks experience is especially helpful. Salesforce and SAP data integration experience desired.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, model development and related AI techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, natural language processing, and predictive modeling.
  • Experience building a learning organization focused on delivering business value through scaled agile development practices.

Education Level:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Years Experience:
15+ years of executive leadership experience overseeing data strategy and analytics, engineering, strong understanding of data management principles, data warehousing, and data governance.

Relevant Work Experience

National Pay Range: $186,485.12 USD-$437,074.50 USD
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
