HEAD OF PRODUCT

We seek a world-class product leader with a steep personal development trajectory to join Artsy as our Head of Product. You will work with our CEO to lead our product organization and help us manifest a world where art is as ubiquitous as music.

ABOUT ARTSY

We believe that art and self-expression elevate the human condition and lead to a more conscious, connected, and empathetic world. We believe the key to enabling this world lies in removing the art market’s friction points–30-40% average sale costs and 3-6 month average sale speeds–and lowering barriers to entry that keep 99%+ of potential buyers on the sidelines. By making it easier and more enjoyable to learn about, buy, and sell art, we will raise the frequency and volume of art buying, and expand the market to support a larger, more vibrant, and diverse art ecosystem.

The $66 billion art market ($3T total assets) is the last major consumer marketplace to come online and, with over $30B in commercial inventory, Artsy is the first company to aggregate the lion’s share of it onto a single platform. And from Sotheby’s contemporary auctions to ancient relics in The Met’s permanent collection, Artsy is also the first platform where virtually all the world’s major galleries, museums, fairs, and auction houses have made inventory accessible to the public for education and collecting.

Artsy’s platform is global. 70% of our partners are internationally based and our average transaction distance is over 3,000 miles, the highest of any Internet platform.

Artsy is the largest and most comprehensive art platform in the world–help us use that platform to manifest a world where art is as ubiquitous as music.

YOUR ROLE

You will work with our CEO and other key leaders to develop Artsy’s product strategy and lead the organization that drives its execution.

To expand the art market, you will help us build products and services that remove friction and barriers to entry. Your team will make it easier and more enjoyable for people to engage with art–whether that’s creating it, learning about it, or monetizing it.

Beyond expanding the existing art market, you will ensure that Artsy’s product platform anticipates and rides new waves of technological disruption–e.g. AR/VR, decentralized protocols, etc.–in order to unlock new and more powerful ways for humanity to create, experience, and monetize our collective self-expression.

YOU ARE:

  • A world class leader–you can design, recruit, and develop a world-class product team that builds trust and collaborates cross-functionally across a company
  • A platform strategist–you have led product for a platform or marketplace with core data advantage that powers business + product applications
  • A design aficionado–you know and appreciate world-class design, and can collaborate with designers to ship products worthy of all the world’s art
  • All In–you are excited to align your work and life purpose; you share our values (detailed below) and vision for creating a world where art is as ubiquitous as music
  • Expanding our horizons–you bring a different perspective, experience, and DNA to Artsy’s team and decision making
  • Bonus: you’ve worked on a platform with consumers and enterprises, and/or one with global network effects

WORKING AT ARTSY

In addition to our vision of “a world where art is as ubiquitous as music,” Artsy has five core values that will inform your experience working with us:

Art x Science: We believe in the value of both logic and intuition, data and emotion, in our communications, our design, our code, our decision making, and our people. We celebrate the magic that happens when the often separate worlds of art and science are brought together, and we look to create that magic in everything we do.

People are Paramount: At Artsy we believe in people. We spend an extraordinary amount of energy to find the best person in the world for a particular role, and accordingly we treat them like the CEO of that role once they are hired. This means there are no specific work hours, no pointless bureaucracy. You will have complete autonomy and responsibility. Artsy only cares that you achieve inspiring results in a way that is aligned with our values.

Quality Worthy of Art: We believe in creating an experience that is worthy of all the world’s art and the countless lifetimes of dedication that artists have committed to their craft. In recognition of this, we strive to go a step further than what is required in everything we do. We believe the best long term quality comes from rapidly shipping and iterating in the short term.

Positive Energy: We believe in being inclusive and focusing our energy on what makes us happy and excited as opposed to what we don’t like. We take ownership of our negative feelings and use them as opportunities for greater self-awareness. We believe in a positive, supportive, and collaborative culture.

Openness: We believe in getting out of our comfort zone in order to be more open with each other whether that means sharing positive encouragement, critical feedback, or simply sharing our emotions and feelings as they arise. We are also open to receiving feedback no matter how painful it is to hear. We believe in manifesting a more open world where more people have access to art, and can express themselves and connect with others through art.

Artsy is an equal opportunity employer. Consistent with our mission of serving a diverse and global audience, we value a diverse workforce and inclusive culture which reflects that. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, political beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, and veteran status.
