Senior Software Engineer - Frontend, Internationalization
Squarespace is looking for experienced software engineers to join our Internationalization Platform engineering team. Internationalization Platform is the engineering owner for internationalization efforts across all Squarespace products and engineering teams. We manage the foundational building blocks that allow product engineers to create localized interfaces, and our ownership includes a suite of internal code-libraries, platform applications, and the development of user-facing features.
Our primary goal is to delight our international customers by empowering Product Engineering teams. As a Senior Software Engineer on a growing and business-critical team, you will work with engineering teammates and cross-functional partners to scope and implement improvements to our International platforms and products. Responsibilities for our team include:
- Implementing changes within codebases we didn't build and don't own, and leaving them better than we found them
- Defining and advocating for internationalization best practices across the organization
- Scoping future requirements for the internationalization platform and products in response to coworker and customer feedback and behavior
Our team works in JavaScript (vanilla, Node.js, Typescript, React), Java (Spring), Postgres and Kubernetes. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the team out of our NYC office.
All Squarespace employees are working remotely at this time. We are closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 as we continue our work to build a return-to-work plan that ensures a safe return to our offices and provides flexibility for our employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ship well tested, idiomatic code to production, across code libraries, application code and microservices
- Set boundaries, priority and milestones around technical problems of wide scope
- Actively participate in technical discussions and code review
- Be comfortable ramping up on both legacy and modern technologies to accomplish outcomes
- Mentor teammates and colleagues across a spectrum of seniority
- Maintain a kind, collaborative, and psychologically safe working environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years industry experience shipping web applications across large codebases with many contributors
- Strong programming and architecture fundamentals in JavaScript
- Experience as a Product Engineer or writing developer tooling and libraries used by Product Engineering teams
- International experience is not required but a plus
