Counsel, Litigation
The Litigation Counsel will be responsible for managing and supporting a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, as well as providing day-to-day legal advice to various business units within the company. Litigation matters are likely to include a variety of disputes in different subject areas, as well as responding to third-party subpoenas and government requests.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Developing case strategy in partnership with business units and driving cost-effective resolution of litigation disputes
Managing outside counsel
Legal research and writing for matters where outside counsel is deemed unnecessary (e.g., responses to demand letters, position statements, etc.).
Reviewing, revising and approving pleadings and motions and attending court hearings and depositions
Coordinating discovery, including collection and production of materials
Providing legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of pre-litigation issues arising from business-as-usual activities
Keeping management and business units apprised of litigation developments and strategy
Qualifications
Required education: JD from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to relevant state bar
Preferred background: litigation generalist with some experience in one or more of the subject matter areas of securities, employment, intellectual property, antitrust, and internal investigations
Preferred years' experience: 4+ years’ full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environment
Experience in all phases of litigation
Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills
Demonstrable leadership skills
Detail-oriented but also able to operate with strategic focus
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and work on cross-functional teams
Able to perform both independently and in a team environment
