The Litigation Counsel will be responsible for managing and supporting a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, as well as providing day-to-day legal advice to various business units within the company. Litigation matters are likely to include a variety of disputes in different subject areas, as well as responding to third-party subpoenas and government requests.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing case strategy in partnership with business units and driving cost-effective resolution of litigation disputes

  • Managing outside counsel

  • Legal research and writing for matters where outside counsel is deemed unnecessary (e.g., responses to demand letters, position statements, etc.). 

  • Reviewing, revising and approving pleadings and motions and attending court hearings and depositions

  • Coordinating discovery, including collection and production of materials

  • Providing legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of pre-litigation issues arising from business-as-usual activities

  • Keeping management and business units apprised of litigation developments and strategy

Qualifications

  • Required education: JD from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to relevant state bar

  • Preferred background: litigation generalist with some experience in one or more of the subject matter areas of securities, employment, intellectual property, antitrust, and internal investigations

  • Preferred years' experience: 4+ years’ full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environment

  • Experience in all phases of litigation

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills

  • Demonstrable leadership skills 

  • Detail-oriented but also able to operate with strategic focus

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and work on cross-functional teams

  • Able to perform both independently and in a team environment
