What this role is about:
RapidSOS is looking for an experienced attorney to serve as our in-house counsel. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will serve as the principal legal officer of the company, working across all areas of RapidSOS to execute key partnerships as needed. You will be tasked with overall responsibility for the vision and leadership of our legal strategy and services and the management of legal risk throughout the organization. As RapidSOS’s General counsel, you will lead and build our legal department and work closely with senior leaders across the organization.
What you’ll do:
Set strategy and vision for the legal team to support RapidSOS’s objectives
Build trust and provide pragmatic counsel to company leadership
Advise on a variety of commercial transactions
Identify and advise on risk, liability, and compliance matters
Work closely with finance and corporate teams on corporate transactions and governance
Provide guidance to the marketing team on partnerships and marketing compliance
Provide guidance to talent team on employment and recruiting matters
Provide leadership on cross-functional teams relating to intellectual property, data privacy, regulatory, and security matters
Support business teams in new product development and operations
Manage any disputes or litigation that may arise and manage external legal resources
Manage and provide mentorship to the legal team
Willing to support the team in areas that are not always traditionally legal

Experience and Requirements:
J.D from a top-tier law school
Active bar license, in good standing
7+ years of relevant experience, including in-house experience in a leadership position
Native expertise on a range of relevant subject matters and track record of effectively leveraging outside counsel beyond such expertise
Understanding of privacy and regulatory frameworks
