Machine Learning Protein Structure Prediction Scientist
We're seeking a Machine Learning Protein Structure Prediction Scientist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!
As a member of our Machine Learning team, you'll investigate and benchmark modern, open source protein structure prediction tools (AlphaFold V2) and extend them to create high-quality protein structures useful for drug discovery projects. You will work with a team of experts to inject more domain knowledge into the machine learning models, as well as refine specific protein structures with known experimental details. Schrödinger's recent acquisition of XTAL BioStructures puts us in a unique position to advance the state of the art in protein structure prediction and refinement with experimental validation and support.
Who will love this job:
- A machine learning researcher who wants to work on the cutting edge of biological science
- An excellent communicator who can work independently and as part of a team
- An enthusiastic learner who enjoys picking up new technological and domain skills
What you'll do:
- Run numeric experiments benchmarking and improving existing machine learning algorithms for protein structure prediction
- Investigate transfer learning and other refinement techniques for improving results for specific classes of proteins
- Analyze variance and diversity of generated protein conformational states coming out of machine learned protein structure prediction tools
- Combine machine-learned-generated protein structures with enhanced sampling and molecular dynamics techniques for binding pocket prediction and refinement
What you should have:
- Deep interest in large-scale computational networks
- Extensive understanding of deep learning techniques (i.e., transformers, semi-supervised learning, transfer learning)
- Experience with pytorch
- Knowledge of protein structures
Pay and perks:
Schrödinger understands it's people that make a company great. Because of this, we're prepared to offer a competitive salary, equity-based compensation, and a wide range of benefits that include healthcare (with dental and vision), a 401k, pre-tax commuter benefits, a flexible work schedule, and a parental leave program.
