Why we need you:

The Content Marketing Manager will directly impact the growth of the Schoology brand as well as progress toward business goals. We expect you to build and scale integrated content marketing campaigns across the entire digital marketing funnel. These campaigns will help drive new business demand, in addition to upsell and expansion opportunities, furthering our existing customer base of 1,500+ K-12 school districts.
The ideal candidate has an understanding of inbound marketing (SEO, content, email, social, PPC), and experience in B2B content marketing within the EdTech space. He or she is action-oriented, creative, and a strategic thinker who can take initiative in a fast-paced digital marketing environment. You will be exposed to a wide range of digital marketing competencies and gain a lot of experience in the process.

As Content Marketing Manager, you will:

  • Manage and Execute the Content Strategy and Processes—Continue to develop Schoology’s working content strategy and engine that produces high-quality ebooks, articles, webinars, infographics, blogs posts, and more for multiple inbound and outbound campaigns.
  • Lead the Production of High-Quality Content—Work with an internal team and manage a team of freelancers to regularly produce high-quality thought leadership and best practices content for the edtech space.
  • Own the Schoology Blog—Manage, develop, and grow Schoology’s thought leadership blog through content marketing, distribution strategies, and SEO. Project manage, create, optimize, and edit all blog content including articles and videos.
  • Create and Manage Schoology’s Premium Nurture Assets—Continue to build and develop Schoology’s library of downloadables, including ebooks, articles, webinars, and more.
  • Execute Inbound Campaigns—Work to increase organic traffic, brand recognition, lead capture, product demos, and more via inbound strategy and tactics.
  • Execute Outbound Email Nurture Campaigns—Continue to build and manage outbound email campaign strategy, calendar, and assets for a weekly and monthly nurture campaign.
  • Streamline Content Creation and Processes—Lead the charge for improving the quality and quantity of content marketing processes including content creation, use, deliver, etc.
  • Collaborate with Educational Experts—Leverage internal and external educational experts to harness their expertise to create and elevate content vision, messaging, research, and execution.
  • Contribute to advocacy marketing—Strategize, design, and implement “challenges” that engage our growing community of educators who use Schoology’s advocacy platform.

In order to succeed in this position, you will have:

  • 5+ years of content marketing experience in the education, technology, or edtech spaces
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and hosting skills—Strong writing, editing, proofing and public speaking are needed due to the wide breadth of content types, sources, and requirements. You’ll have examples of relevant work to share during the interview process.
  • Strong project management skills—Because you’ll be working with numerous technical and subject-matter experts and novices, the ability to discern who to leverage, how to leverage them, and how to get your project across the finish line is paramount.
  • An analytical mindset—Schoology’s marketing team is incredibly data-driven, meaning you’ll be responsible for reporting on and improving metrics and KPI’s that show the value of content marketing in our broader digital marketing and business initiatives.
  • A strong attention to detail—Since you will be the gatekeeper of content strategy and quality, the utmost attention to detail—audience, style, topic, data, vision, etc.—is required for this job.
  • A passion for Education and Technology—We are helping to transform education for the better, which has huge implications for the lives of educators and students around the world. The right candidate must be passionate about this.
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong content management and organizational skills
  • An understanding of SEO and the impact it has on inbound marketing
  • Experience planning and executing content marketing programs
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience working with digital content creation and management software (Google Suite, Drupal, Trello/Asana, GoToWebinar, etc.)

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working with a large brand and driving demand through content marketing
  • Experience with content management systems – especially Drupal
  • Experience with marketing automation systems – especially Marketo
  • Experience with HTML/CSS
  • Experience managing freelance writers
