Getaway provides simple escapes to tiny cabins nestled in nature for stressed out folks where they can recharge and disconnect. Our experiences are more than the beautiful tiny cabins nestled in the woods—it’s about disconnecting and living in the present moment. It’s about learning to disconnect from your cell phone and rediscovering the art of a good conversation. It’s about tuning out the endless noise of society today and listening to the great outdoors.  Outposts are located within a two-hour drive of major metro cities—far enough to disconnect but close enough for a spontaneous escape. 

Our Copywriter will collaborate and support our growing team with concepting, drafting, and iterating on compelling copy across our channels. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with experience at a D2C startup, is exceptionally organized, feels excited by the idea of helping shape our mission-driven brand, enjoys writing in a conversational voice, and never misses an oxford comma. This role is critically important to our marketing team, and reports to Getaway’s Head of Content.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear, concise, and on-brand copy for emails, website, landing pages, ads, print collateral, and various other marketing platforms

     

  • Contribute to our blog, The Journal, as needed
  • Work closely with our designers on execution of creative briefs
  • Own several creative processes, including our campaign calendar creation and execution
  • >Analyze and optimize copy based on performance

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience working at a start-up on a marketing team, preferably at a direct-to-consumer brand
  • Has a strong writing portfolio and excellent brand and editorial judgment
  • Above novice understanding of CMS, preferably with experience in Contentful, Wordpress, and Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Feels confident in their ability to manage a number of projects at once, and prioritize to meet goals
  • Can work well and efficiently under tight timelines
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Feels excited about receiving feedback and developing as a copywriter in a growing start-up
  • Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism preferred, or relevant experience

Location: Getaway HQ is located in Downtown Brooklyn.

  • This position is full-time and located at our Downtown Brooklyn headquarters
