Job Description
Northwestern Mutual is seeking a staff editor to produce compelling editorial content across channels. In this role, the editor will help coordinate daily and future planning, delivering articles and other content that inspires and educates consumers and clients. This individual will continuously collaborate with the social and video teams to produce digital- and social-first content, leveraging new distribution opportunities to tell stories in the best way possible.
Principal Accountabilities
- Pitch, write, and produce daily and feature finance stories
- Oversee a pool of freelancers, ensuring voice is applied across channels
- Assign and edit daily stories and feature series
- Ensure content calendar is up to date and aligns with video and social planning
- Act as editorial point for Product and Marketing teams
- Coordinate with Compliance to ensure all copy meets set standards
- Serve as SEO editorial lead, guaranteeing best practices are incorporated
- Commission first-person and profiles from influencers, financial planners, and clients
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism or related field
- 5+ years of editorial experience
- Understanding of how content is shared and consumed differently across digital, social and mobile platforms
- Ability to use analytics to help drive daily decisions and overall content strategy
- Project management experience, including a track record of delivering results
- Experience managing a team of writers and editors
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team and multi-task
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
