In this role, you will design and execute an executive communications program from the ground up for one of the most exciting startups in the tech world. This is a high visibility role for an energetic PR professional.
The candidate is an excellent writer and storyteller, able to spin gold from straw by crafting compelling messages from rough notes for internal memos, blogs, video scripts, and talking points. He/she will be responsible for communicating strategic business and culture topics across the organization, advising the Co-CEO on key messages, and driving a consistent cadence of communications across the company calendar and in alignment with business priorities.
This role requires superior verbal and written communication skills, exceptional editorial and business judgment, and the ability to anticipate the communications needs of the CEO. You must be a confident and compelling leader in your own right, with a proven ability to build trust and influence across multiple functions with a team of senior executives. Further, it goes without saying you are able to keep pace in a fast, entrepreneurial, global environment led by the company’s founders.
In this role, you will report to the VP of Executive and Internal Communications, and work directly with senior executives including the Co-CEOs.
Responsibilities
- Develop a compelling executive communications program that positions the co-CEO and founder of the company as an industry leader and visionary C level.
- Develop and execute thought leadership platform, drafting messages for internal and blogs, byliners, and posts for external channels, being thoughtful about building a clear cadence of messages, creating business momentum, and carving a niche in the industry noise.
- For events like the global all-hands call, build agenda, draft presentations, prep executives, and coordinate logistics.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent and coordinated with external communications and disseminated across the organization.
- Advise senior executives of internal or industry developments, making recommendations, responding to feedback, and adjusting content accordingly.
- Build strong relationships across multiple stakeholder groups including go-to-market, product & engineering, finance, HR and IT.
- Identify and execute new ways of creating and distributing communications, taking in account the habits and preferences of a highly digital internal audience.
Requirements:
- 7+ years communications or marketing, with global experience preferred
- BA/BS in Journalism, English, or Communications (or equivalent)
- High comfort level and experience working with senior executives in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
- Strong mix of marketing, PR, social media and communications skills.
- Ability to write for the voice and style of CEO and other executives.
- Creative editorial and visual storytelling skills, including PowerPoint.
- Networking and relationship-building skills to collaborate and influence across functions.
- Digital savvy, fast learner.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results quickly.
