Grubhub is looking for a New York City-based manager to join the company's communications & government relations team. This person will manage our New York City media relations and communications strategy related to policy, regulatory and government relations matters. He or she will also work closely with our senior manager, policy communications and director, corporate communications to proactively and reactively reinforce Grubhub's reputation and position in the food delivery industry.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, resourceful, determined, and entrepreneurial with experience managing quickly developing news cycles and highlighting points of differentiation in a highly competitive landscape. This person will need to handle several concurrent projects and act as a trusted advisor to members of Grubhub's government relations, legal, restaurant and delivery partner teams. You should also have experience with the New York State and City legislative process. Strong writing and storytelling skills are a must, as well as the ability to keep up with a fast-paced environment.
The Impact You Will Make
- Proactive and reactive communications and media relations to support our government and public affairs efforts
- Implementation of integrated programs that demonstrate Grubhub's value proposition, including coordination with industry partners and coalitions
- Collaboration across teams to develop and review communications to our restaurant and driver networks
- Cross-functional work to build compelling story angles that will resonate with media across different categories and disciplines
- Development of messaging and materials for use with media and elected officials
- Responsibilities as a company spokesperson when appropriate
What You Bring to the Table
- 5-8 years of experience in a corporate-focused or public affairs field, ideally with NYC local government experience
- A contact list of NY business and local media, including broadcast outlets
- A proven track record in developing and leading communications programs, with the results to show for it
- Superior writing skills for a variety of stakeholder audiences
- Experience in, and a keen eye for, leveraging data to tell stories
- The ability to work well within a team, willing to roll up your sleeves and always putting our company mission first

Vaccination Requirement: Grubhub employees are required to be fully vaccinated, and must be able to show proof of full-Covid-19 vaccination, and booster if eligible, prior to starting employment. Fully vaccinated is defined as: "2 weeks have passed since your second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's vaccine." Those eligible to receive the booster must receive the booster to be considered fully vaccinated, and those not yet eligible will be required to obtain the booster once eligible (6 months post last dose).
