Major League Baseball (MLB) is looking for a Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics to join its Analytics team based in New York, NY. This role is primarily responsible for informing analysts, marketers, clubs and designers with accurate and insightful data to develop world-class marketing campaigns for baseball initiatives.

The Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics will lead our marketing analytics team to build and strengthen analytical capabilities in 3 key areas: marketing performance, media mix optimization and planning. This individual will partner closely with our Performance Media, Ticketing and Marketing-Technology teams to apply the best analytics-driven approaches in our marketing practices and achieve our growth and efficiency goals. Qualified candidates should be avid users of MLB’s products on mobile, web, and connected device platforms. They will have a demonstrable ability to analyze and communicate quantitative and qualitative data findings to stakeholders and executives. They will be comfortable with concepts in descriptive and inferential statistics. They will have great familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics) and analysis software (e.g. RStudio, Alteryx), and a working knowledge of data-relevant programming languages (e.g. SQL, R, Python is a plus).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team responsible for analyzing, measuring, and optimizing marketing spend for Major League Baseball.

  • Hire and develop top-tier outstanding, talented people for your team

  • Use statistical analysis to unlock insights and support Marketing strategy

  • Build predictive models to complete long term projects and ad hoc analyses for the greater Marketing Department

  • Help the marketing channel owners optimize return on their effort and spending through analysis, controlled experiments and pre-post analyses.

  • Build predictive models to support long-term baseball and economic research


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing analytics leadership roles

  • 2+ years people management experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, etc.

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to apply analytical insights to a variety of problems 

  • Ability/desire to learn new skills quickly

  • Ability to communicate methodologies and conclusions effectively with parties unfamiliar with mathematical or statistical concepts

  • Experience with SQL, R or Python. Experience with Google cloud analytics tools is highly desired.

  • Understanding of statistical and predictive modeling techniques such as linear and logistic regression, clustering and other machine learning algorithms, Markov chains, etc.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience working with visualization software such as Looker or Tableau is a plus
