About This Role:

Cheddar is looking for a Social Media Editor to assist the Director of Social Media and Engagement & Editorial Content Team in managing content across our social platforms, driving engagement and creating unique experiences for our viewers on each platform. This position will be responsible for understanding and utilizing Cheddar’s voice to assist in content creation and creating awareness of our brand. 

A strong candidate is someone eager to help in the day-to-day real-time responsibilities of social media management understanding we’re a post-cable network and the nature of this fast-paced news cycle. This position will also be contributing to the overall social content strategy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily managing Cheddar’s main Twitter account and live tweeting our on-air programming (Opening Bell, Between Bells, and Closing Bell)
  • Expand real-time news coverage to additional platforms
  • Cover news events using social media during hours that Cheddar’s linear broadcasting is not live
  • Schedule and publish content during off news cycle hours
  • Interact with fans and viewers on Twitter alongside the social media team to encourage conversations
  • Monitor trending topics and hashtags to insert Cheddar into the conversation
  • Implement engagement tactics on Twitter to keep our audience interacting with us and our live programming
  • Work closely with the editorial team and be tuned into the business and tech news to further evolve the Cheddar voice, content diversity, and point of view on the platform
  • Clip videos using SnappyTV from our live programming for distribution on social platforms
  • Test new social media content templates, formats, series, and platforms under the direction of the Director of Social Media & Engagement

 

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of related social media management experience (Internships and curricular activity included)
  • Business and financial news experience
  • Newsroom experience
  • Understand the logistics of how to strategically publish, engage and monitor our different social media platforms
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently and keep organized during a busy, fast-paced news cycle
  • Strong understanding of what makes content shareable
  • Experience with utilizing publishing, analytics and listening tools to help content creation and engagement
  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of or desire to learn about top stories in business, technology and media
  • Some experience with Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and other content creation tools
  • Commitment to high standards — Experience managing social media, understanding editorial voice and ethical social media best practices for a media brand
  • Strong writing and communication skills for social content
  • Keeps up-to-date on social media platform news and updates
