Job Description

Product Owners at MarketAxess harness the technical agility of their teams to execute enterprise strategic goals and deliver value to the organization. Our Product Owners are highly motivated, passionate, inquisitive, adaptable and inspire their teams. Product Owners work with stakeholders and their teams to ensure strategic visions and technology innovations align with the entire organization.

As a member of an Agile Team, the Product Owner defines Stories and prioritizes the Team Backlog to streamline delivery of the Features or components for the team. They take a significant role in quality control and is empowered to accept stories as done. They developed significant relationships and responsibilities throughout MarketAxess, including working with Product Management to prepare for the Program Increment (PI) Planning meeting.

We are open to candidates working remotely, on EST or Central hours.

What You’ll Do

  • PI Planning – Manage program backlog and refinement. Plan and participate in PI Planning events. Update and maintain Team backlog. Contribute to the Program Vision, Roadmap, and Team presentations.
  • Maintain the Team Backlog – compose and manage user stories, defects, and enablers. Ensure backlog items are prioritized based on value, effort, and team dependencies determined in PI Planning. Ensure story Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done are well defined.
  • Sprint Planning - Review and prioritize the backlog items in preparation for Sprint Planning. Coordinate dependencies with other Product Owners or Teams.
  • Collaborate with Product Manager to define and deliver Features.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, story refinements and retrospectives to ensure the team has a clear understanding of priorities.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and produce System Demos.
  • Participate in the collection and evaluation of performance metrics.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2- 3 years of Product Owner experience preferred
  • Knowledge of software development concepts; comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation and working with developers, solution architects and other technical staff
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies and related tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and other Collaboration/Cloud/BI tools.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner or SAFe Product Owner Certification a plus
  • Ability to understand complex business problems and identify and interpret business needs
  • Strong influence, facilitation, and collaboration skills with ability to effectively communicate with a variety of disciplines and diverse groups of people
  • Proactive self-starter, takes ownership of initiatives from the start through to completion

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
MarketAxess's Flexible Spending Account (FSA) helps employees cover out-of-pocket medical expenses with pre-tax contributions of up to $2,650 annually.
Disability insurance
