Summary of who we need:
Someone who will lead all touchpoints of product development, coordinating with CEO & Head of Engineering, and manufacturing partners. Someone who's going to be effective at managing up and know what they themselves have the authority to decide vs. what needs to get escalated to CEO/team (and get prompt resolution)
Scope of role:
- Product management: decision maker for the product including design, features (both hardware & software), user experience, costing, etc. working with product development team (engineers & designers and manufacturing partners)
- Program oversight: oversee planning & development of product (hardware & software), working with engineers & manufacturing partners to bring to life
- Manage product communication & relationships: be point person for all development of product needs, coordinating
- Planning oversight: prepare commercial plans (budget, financial, sales), and oversee & coordinate plans with relevant stakeholders in manufacturing & marketing
Relevant experience:
- Hardware product manager at IoT startup or water or coffee dispensing product co (e.g. Quench, Elkay, Bevi, Lavit, Keurig, Nespresso, etc)
- Hardware product manager at IoT startup or water or coffee dispensing product co (e.g. Quench, Elkay, Bevi, Lavit, Keurig, Nespresso, etc)
- Project manager for connected hardware device (or relevant experience launching a new connected hardware product that has software & hardware elements)
- Operations oversight for connected hardware brand, working with supply chain partners from production through fulfillment
- Nice/helpful to have things include:
- API development (design and documentation)
- Interaction/UX design experience
- User-facing copywriting (instructional materials, marketing, on-box copy, etc.)
- Alexa and/or Google Assistant integration experience
