About LearnVest:

LearnVest is redefining the American approach to personal finance. Our planners leverage financial technology to create simple, affordable, realistic plans for anyone who wants to feel confident about their money and optimistic about the future.

Since launching in 2010, LearnVest has been one of the premier financial technology companies in the country, helping thousands of people make progress on their financial goals. LearnVest was acquired by Northwestern Mutual in 2015 and is now scaling its technology and personal finance approach to help millions of people across both the LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual brands.

About the role:

LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual are looking for a Senior Product Manager for Investments and Wealth Management to join our digital product team. We are on a mission to help re-imagine our go to market strategy for financial planning, investment advice and an integrated user experience and it all starts with the innovative platform and software that our 7,000+ advisors use everyday.

The role requires a deep understanding of wealth management and investment technology for advisors, clients and home office users. Data will power your roadmap and stories. Our Product Managers run “pizza pie” teams of 4-6 engineers and are paired with visual design, UX design and copywriting to make beautiful products. We might be building for advisors and professionals but we aim for consumer level usability and simplicity.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive a strategic product vision for offerings related to our Investment & Wealth Management business, in partnership with peers of the product and investment team.
  • Lead cross functional teams to own the products(s) falling under your management
  • Teach and answer questions and become the subject matter expert for the products and features you manage.
  • Continuous collaboration with advisors and users, to make data-driven product strategy decisions based on research.
  • Utilize metrics to track product-use after a launch while continuing to act as the owner of such products.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and product management best practices
  • Role can be based out of NYC or Milwaukee, WI.

What You Have:

  • 5+ years of product management experience building financial technology with engineers and designers
  • Experience delivering digital product in high paced environment for financial advisors.
  • Agile product development experience but the flexibility to handle detailed PRDs for vendors when needed.
  • Familiar with clearing, advisory programs and performance reporting vendors and capabilities (ie. Pershing, Albridge, Envestnet, Morningstar)
  • Comfortable presenting to large groups, convincing people to run towards goals, and managing multiple stakeholders - even when they don’t report to you.
  • Curiosity. We value learning and exploring. Many of our Product Managers were former Advisors and some of our classic Product Managers have become CFP’s and learned formal financial planning. You should enjoy moving fast and learning lots of new things!
  • Product intuition - strong instincts about what makes great products, simple is better
  • Data driven - You know how to leverage data to make good decisions when confronted by ambiguity. You may not have all the answers upfront but you know how to find them
  • Someone with technical chops: You don’t need to code, but you should be able to gauge what technologies work best for the job, what’s easy or difficult to implement.
  • Ability to manage strategic technology vendor relationships.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Computer Science or Finance degree strongly preferred

Our Benefits:

  • Fully stocked snacks, beer fridge, cold brew kegs, frequent catered lunches, company dodgeball team, and whiskey hours.
  • Tuition reimbursement, commuter plans, and paid time off
  • Highly competitive compensation that include base salary plus bonus
  • Medical/Dental/Vision plans, matching 401(k), pension program
