On the Research and Development team, your role is crucial in building and developing the business. Your job will be to understand a complex and dynamic marketplace where changing legislation, product availability, and client requirements add up to new market opportunities. The role is all-encompassing, you will identify and source suitable products to create new market opportunities. From there, be a part of bringing the new opportunity to fruition through prospecting new potential clients with your sales skills and building client relationships. 

What you'll do: 

  • Lead and assist in the formulation, development and implementation of low carbon regulation and strategies for commercial growth drivers. 
  • Support the development of cross-functional implementation strategies, new business opportunities and the project management framework with a commercial perspective. 
  • Identify and drive strategic opportunities and business optimization within existing frameworks. 
  • Share information and knowledge with the trading desks to assist in the execution of the products and services in low carbon business. 
  • Evaluate new product offering to customers and counterparties utilizing cross-sector opportunities to build new proposals and analyze corporates low carbon targets and implementation of sustainability plans. 
  • Build up the value chain supporting and designing, developing and ensuring constant evolution of low carbon regulation in close collaboration with other team members of the R&D team and trading desks. 
  • Analyze supply/demand balances and corporates behaviors 
  • Identify current and future industry trends in different sectors aiming to achieve decarbonization targets. 
  • Analyze feasibility stage projects for developing solutions of low carbon transactions/ projects, providing financial analysis on the profitability and returns potential, challenges and opportunities in developing new market strategies at project level and program level in the context of new regulatory frameworks.  
  • Collect, disseminate, and analyze economic data and provide data analysis. 

Who you are: 

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental commodities and knowledge in analyzing economic, financial, and policy issues in low carbon markets.  
  • Masters in Economics with concentration in financial modelling or finance  
  • Knowledge of North American or Americas low carbon regulatory framework, including compliance requirements. 
  • Clear understanding of economic evaluation methodologies / project management to work business cases through the process.
  • Substantial knowledge of financial economics, econometrics, forecasting techniques, and economic modeling.
  • Superior analytical skills that can be translated into policy research and ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form.
  • Strong tactical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus. 

Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000 

Actual base pay may vary based on various factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, level and experience. The base pay is just one component of the total competitive compensation package for employees.
