Crossix is looking for a Sr. Big Data Engineer that will work on the collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing huge data sets. Your primary focus will be on designing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, and monitoring them. You will also assist with the integration of these solutions within the architecture used across the company.

What You'll Do

  • Utilizing, managing Big Data tools and frameworks required to support analyses performed by various internal teams.
  • Manage scalable solutions that increase overall performance of compute-intensive processes at various levels of production.
  • Participate in efforts to identify, define, develop and integrate new tools; effort driven by the Analytics Products team and the Technology team.
  • Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure/process changes to increase optimization.
  • Ability to solve any ongoing issues with operating the cluster/instances.
  • Implementing ETL processes.
  • Utilize the ability to draw conclusions from utilization data and recommend action.
  • Keep up to date on emerging technology solutions that impact the Big Data domain.
  • Support analytics teams in the NYC office with regards to use of tools, resources and platforms to achieve success and meet delivery commitments.

What You've Done

5+ years of hands-on experience/working knowledge in the following:

  • HPC cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure Web Services) for Big Data analysis.
  • Implementing data solutions dealing with large data sets using tool such as Hadoop/Apache Spark distributed computing environment.
  • Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles & architecture.
  • Big-Data platforms and data modeling frameworks.
  • Complex data structure, data processing, data quality and data lifecycle.
  • Data analysis within the HealthCare/Pharmaceutical domain, desired.
  • Oracle / HDFS / Spark/ Java / Linux /MySQL . Oracle is desired but not required
  • Scripting – bash, perl
  • SQL / XML / XSD
  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
