Sr Director, Legal - Cybersecurity and Privacy
This attorney will join our in-house Cybersecurity and Privacy legal team. The successful candidate will have a strong base in foundational cybersecurity and data privacy legal and regulatory requirements in order to contribute effectively to the company's operations and demonstrate a strong interest helping shape the company's cybersecurity strategy and posture as it continues to develop and mature.
Job Summary
You will work closely with our Cybersecurity and Privacy attorneys in the overall management of the company's cyber and data privacy approach and serve as a subject matter expert to other legal and business teams. In addition, it is essential for you to understand the basics of telecom and adjacent technologies, or at least have a curiosity and drive to learn, to effectively provide guidance to the company's business and technical security teams.
Spectrum provides connectivity services to residential, small business and enterprise customers across the country. Our cybersecurity needs span data, infrastructure, and government entities.
As Sr. Director, Legal - Cybersecurity and Privacy, you will be responsible working across business units on the technical issues of cybersecurity as well as the legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks and requirements to help the company manage cybersecurity risks, protect data and critical infrastructure, and advise stakeholders during events and incidents.
How A Sr. Director, Legal - Cybersecurity and Privacy Makes an Impact

  • Background in cybersecurity, information technology, and/or data protection.
  • Extensive and up to date knowledge of cybersecurity issues from a regulatory, legislative, and industry standards point of view.
  • Advising and counseling clients on cybersecurity and privacy issues, including compliance, incident response, risk assessment and cyber and data privacy related vendor risk management. Areas of impact should include supply chain, procurement and geo-political locations of concern.
  • Managing multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment, communicating effectively with others verbally and in writing, and negotiating agreements with third parties independently.
  • Assess risks on an ongoing basis and raise awareness to stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing breaches and incidents including conducting legal risk analyses, communicating with law enforcement and governmental entities, assisting forensic experts and working closely with internal partners and external vendors at a technical level.
  • Presenting concepts in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Demonstrating good judgment, initiative, poise and calm in a a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Operatinge with a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and maturity.
  • Is knowledgeable about contracts and general corporate law.
  • Effective team player.
  • Bringing a background in cybersecurity, information technology and/or data protection.
  • Willing to work after hours or on the weekends when necessary.


As a valued member of our legal team your primary objective will be to keep our customers and company safe. With a strong focus on delivering sound advice and legal options to our leaders regarding cybersecurity and data privacy matters, you will play an important role in cyber and privacy safety.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience or government environment, with a minimum of 3 years focused on cybersecurity issues.
  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Connecticut bar or eligible for admission as in-house counsel in Connecticut.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one of the fifty states.
  • Legally authorized to be employed in the U.S.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of related certifications (eg. CISSP, CIPP)
