The Account Executive is one of the most critical and influential members of the Flatiron Sales team. The Account Executive team focuses on being a strategic resource for existing customers, and are responsible for delivering value-driven solutions and creating irreplaceable relationships. Ultimately, the Account Executive aims to continually improve and deepen the success and satisfaction of our customers by working collaboratively with the Customer Success, Implementation, Support, Product, Business Development, Sales and Sales Operations teams.

Strong candidates for the Account Executive team will excel in sales & service, written and verbal communication, relationship-building and project management. The role requires a sharp analytical mind, client management and organizational skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for tackling one of the most complex medical and technological challenges of our time.

Responsibilities

Leading sales activities for existing customers, including contract renewals and upsells on all existing (OE,OA,OB,OT) and new products (RCM, VBC)
Partnering with the Account Management team to conduct regular business reviews and product roadmap overviews
Acting as an escalation point for customers
Develop irreplaceable relationships with customers; retain and satisfy customers
Understand how customers interact with Flatiron products and identify their needs, challenges and ideas
Develop innovative strategies to drive customer engagement
Deliver value-driven solutions; ensure that customers begin every interaction with Flatiron with a clear understanding of its purpose and conclude every interaction with tangible results or next steps

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from a top tiered university
5+ years experience in account management, customer service, and project management
Experience working in healthcare/oncology big plus
Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
Deep understanding of technology
Ability to think on your feet and adapt to any situation
Passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology
Nose for value, ability to effectively prioritize competing projects
Willing to travel 50% at a minimum

By strategically innovating tools side by side with Flatiron’s existing technology, VP of Software Engineering Allison Candido and her team are reimagining the way technology can be utilized in their users — and by extension, their patients — daily lives. Candido and her team’s work mainly focuses on a mature product, OncoEMR, but they take innovative leaps when they make sense, as seen in the company’s Flatiron Assist product. “We may not be building the most cutting-edge technology, but we are innovating the way our users do their work and treat their patients,” Candido said.

I fundamentally believe in the mission of Flatiron and what we are trying to accomplish with our software — and we still have a lot of work to do to continue transforming oncology care.

A Winning Combination: Human Wisdom and Tech

In machine learning, the phrase “human in the loop” describes iterative models that require a human touch. VP of Data Insights Engineering Will Shapiro puts a health tech twist on the expression. “We’ve been thoughtful about how to put ‘experts in the loop’ — oncologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians,” Shapiro said. With this expertise, Shapiro is confident Flatiron is poised to empower clinical decision-making. “Flatiron has incredibly rich data across broad segments of the population that can be critical in helping design trials that are more inclusive,” he said.

Ultimately, I think this work has the potential to make sure that the future of medicine is personalized for everyone, not just the targets of traditional trials.

Leveraging the Achilles Heel

What has growth looked like for VP of Product Management Kate Estep? Recognizing her greatest asset and Achilles heel: empathy. Working in a B2B environment, Estep and her colleagues must make prioritization decisions — which impact oncology nurses, physicians, patients and more. Estep internalizes the impact of “saying no” for the physician and patient on the other end of that decision but has learned to leverage the power of compassion. “I empathize with the impact of those user decisions, and have cultivated that empathy into a powerful trust-building tool,” Estep said.
