We are looking for an Events Director to join our Marketing team. Our ideal candidate has a successful track record of planning and executing must-attend events, preferably within a technology and/or platform business. You’ve handled event execution and experience from start to finish either solo or with limited resources and no detail is overlooked on your watch. You understand how the events strategy supports the company’s business objectives and developed processes for ensuring we 1) have metrics in place for each event and 2) track success and missteps in real time and 3) optimize accordingly to extract the greatest value for our budget and for our brands. You’ll need to have both creative ideas on how our events can benefit our customers and prospects, and also organizational skills to execute flawlessly. You can expect to work closely with the marketing and sales teams, as well as with event vendors. 

Your Contribution:

  • Lead the events marketing strategy and execution for sponsored and custom events, both external (Shoptalk, eTail West, etc.) and internal (e.g., company outings, board meetings). Develop metrics with sales, production plans, manage budgets, negotiate activate sponsorship elements and serve as liaison between sales leadership and marketing.
  • Create and maintain annual calendar of recommended events (based on size, attendees, cost and expected return) that aligns with company strategy (e.g., develop presence in auto vertical Tier I and II).
  • Work with PR firm to secure the best speaking slots based on recommended events.
  • Partner with sales and/or leadership on target audiences for each event and own list maintenance.
  • Own vendor and venue research for sponsored and custom events, negotiating with venues and suppliers, conducting on-site visits, etc.
  • Work with Marketing team and PR firm on programming, design, brand execution, speaker preparation and/or recruitment and promotion via social, website, etc. Provide detailed creative briefs with project calendar to ensure timely delivery of materials and on-brand messaging. Leverage marketing collateral across events to minimize costs of production one-offs.
  • Coordinate on-site logistics and run of show whether in person or remotely to ensure minimal to no heavy lifting on sales. Step in as brand ambassador when necessary to educate and inform prospects of PebblePost’s mission and vision.
  • Implement consistent communication to leadership and potentially company-wide of event status and performance via internal dashboard or similar tool.
  • Analyze event performance and track ROI against IR 500 and Travel 100 target accounts, as well as other verticals. Develop feedback mechanism for sales and events to capture real-time input and utilize that to optimize for the next event. Pull reports and present findings quarterly to prove event investments align with sales objectives.

You Are/Possess:

  • 7-10 years of experience in events marketing roles with proven results.
  • Collaborative partner to marketing and sales attending weekly meetings, leading monthly planning and presenting quarterly results.
  • Experience managing detailed events and program budgets, stretching investments for maximum value and impact for both the company and our target audience.
  • Excellent communicator with superior verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized thinker with instinctual attention to detail.
  • Natural project manager with a positive pro-active attitude who sees possibilities where others see problems.
  • Sense of urgency and instincts to prioritize what’s most important, and at the same time know when to ask for help.
