Your New Role...
We are seeking a Freelance Motion Designer to join the team creating premium longform content for CNN Original Series. The Motion Designer will work alongside our Senior Motion Designers to design, animate and execute visual identities and animated storytelling for our longform serialized content. This is an ambitious and exciting unit that requires strong leaders and creative storytellers who have experience producing feature content with a sharp focus on popular culture. The freelance motion designer maintains high visual standards, and a strong attention to detail, client, audience, story, and context. Proficiency in the full Adobe Suite is required with a heavy emphasis on After Effects and Photoshop.
Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Design, build and animate show looks and graphics packages for show opens, transitions, backgrounds and explainer graphics.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day look and consistency of motion graphic storytelling, communicating the vision set out by the Senior Designer and Creative Director to the broader set of editorial partners within the organization.
  • Work with producers and editors to create and deliver animated graphics as required.
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong design sensibility with emphasis on title treatments, composition and conceptual thinking in a deadline driven environment, technical skills with motion graphics/animation and the ability to handle multiple complex projects.
  • A proven track-record of communicating a creative vision to multiple stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to produce broadcast quality graphics quickly and efficiently, strong communication skills, excellent teamwork and team-building skills.


Qualifications & Experience...

  • 1-3 years of experience designing and creating motion graphics
  • Software: Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Maxon Cinema4D. 3D and/or real-time rendering software experience is a huge plus, as well as familiarity with building MOGRT templates in After Effects. Plugins: RedGiant, Boris FX, Sapphire, AE Expression, C4D Expresso, Octane Render, X-Particles and more
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from accredited art school with emphasis in graphic design or related field (motion design, visual communications, illustration, photography) or equivalent work experience with demonstrated knowledge of graphic design.
  • Link to your portfolio of design/motion graphics work
  • Candidates must live in the New York City tri-state area and work on-site 3 days a week.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $86,457.00 - $160,564.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
