Brain.fm's mission is to empower people around the world to achieve their highest potential. We do this by creating neuroscience-backed functional music to help people focus, relax and sleep better.

Our music is created by combining experienced musicians and patented technology to synchronize the brain’s neural activity to achieve the desired mental state - on demand. Backed by scientific research and testing, we collaborate with some of the world's leading scientists in auditory, neuroscience, and psychology. We have also received a grant from the National Science Foundation to explore uses of our technology for medical applications like helping people with ADHD, Autism, and more.

We are growing in the consumer, enterprise, and medical space and looking for an innovative and collaborative Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our engineering team. Our cross-functional team is made up of software engineers, neuroscientists, product owners, designers, and music composers, all working collaboratively to help people all around the world change their mental state on demand.

What you’ll do 

• Work in a Node stack, focusing on building out our mobile/web application with technologies such as React, Typescript, Node.js, MongoDB, MySQL.
• Collaborate with designers and developers to deliver rich user experiences by contributing high-quality CSS and JavaScript code.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features to the users of both our Mobile and Web products.
• Collaborate within your team to estimate and execute on realistic timelines for all deliverables.
• Participate in all Scrum ceremonies, from planning to retrospective, giving meaningful feedback to help improve our teams, products, and culture.
• Through Test Driven Development, create and maintain test suites that give us confidence in the usability of our products.
• Give respectful and constructive feedback to other developers, regardless of their seniority.
• Be willing to receive respectful and constructive feedback from other developers, regardless of their seniority.
• Use your best judgment to help the team strategically generate and then paydown technical debt with limited risk.

Your Skills and Background 

• 4+ years of experience working in a full-stack Node environment on a consumer-facing web application.
• 3+ years of experience with React or a similar framework working on the frontend of a consumer-facing web application.
• 2+ years of experience with creating test suites for a consumer-facing web application.
• Experience with Node.js or similar on a backend API that supports a consumer-facing web application.
• Experience with TypeScript.
