Senior Platform Engineer

We are looking for an engineer with a developer background, operational mentality, perhaps some background in server / network infrastructure and a passion for working within high performing teams, with a natural curiosity for ever improving technology. This engineer would be creating new ways to maintain, interface, and scale the code used to manage the 10,000+ server infrastructure at DigitalOcean.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Design and develop internal systems to manage all hardware servers
- Create new APIs and microservices to better interface with all infrastructure management processes
- Assist in decision making process associated in CMDB development
- Mentor and assist in developing engineering skillsets in the Platform group
- Be a key individual in technical delivery and execution
- Drive solving creative complex problems
- Deep experience with at least two of the following languages: Ruby, Python, Go, C/C++, Java. Experience in Go preferred.
- Previous experience building robust, scalable APIs
- Previous experience in developing systems and tooling for configuration management / hardware management databases
- Clear understanding of big data management with products like mesos, hdfs, spark, prestodb, etc.
- Understanding of operating systems, configuration management, networking, and storage solutions
- A track record of measurement, analysis, and problem solving in a fast-paced environment
- Experience proactively addressing software and systems reliability issues across all layers in the stack
- World-class written and verbal communication skills
