Button, the New York-based mobile deep linking startup that integrates apps, announced it raised a $20 million Series B today.

The company plans on using the funding to continue to invest in people, products and partners, as well as expand its global footprint. The round was led by Northwest Venture Partners, with participating investments from Redpoint Ventures, DCM Ventures and Greycroft Partners.

Founded in 2014 by Michael Jaconi, Tanner Hackett, Siddhartha Dabral, Stephen Milbank, Chris Maddern and Mike Dudas, Button’s technology connects apps so that mobile users can complete multiple actions without bouncing between apps. For example, when looking for a place to eat in the Foursquare app, a user will be prompted to make a reservation with OpenTable or order a ride to the destination with Uber — all directly through Foursquare. In this sense, Button creates the plumbing that merges apps into ‘super apps,’ ultimately making the mobile experience more seamless.

“When we started, we had a mission to build a platform that would give consumers anything they wanted at the touch of a button,” wrote Button CEO Michael Jaconi in a blog post. “We felt that Google had done that in desktop, but we didn’t think a company had really figured it out in mobile. Our goal was different, yet perhaps as ambitious. Rather than relying on users starting with us or typing in a search box, we thought mobile introduced a different paradigm.”

To date, the three-year-old company’s impressive roster of clients includes digital media giants like AOL, Conde Nast, Huffington Post and Time Inc., as well as merchants such as eBay, Groupon, Hotels.com, Jet and Uber, to name a few.

“Our vision is to usher in a new wave of billion dollar dreams on top of the infrastructure that we develop,” wrote Jaconi. “It’s a tall order, but with the team we’ve assembled, the partners we have building alongside us, and the resources at our disposal, why not dream big. That’s why we got up this morning.”

Including the new funding, the company has raised $36.5 million to date and now counts 40 people on its team.
