Dealing with cancer is never easy. Not for the people who are diagnosed, and not for their friends and family.
Eliran Malki, Irad Deutsch and Ohad Rubin know this, because all three of them have lost relatives to cancer. That experience led the trio to start the company Belong.Life.
Belong.Life acts as a support network for people living with cancer and their loved ones. The company’s app, ‘Belong — beating cancer together,’ is a social network and navigator app for both patients and caregivers. Through the app, people can talk to doctors, communicate with other people dealing with cancer and organize files and documents. Plus, it uses artificial intelligence to personalize the experience for each user.
On Monday, the company announced that it raised $14 million in a Series B funding round led by IQVIA.
“We at Belong are focused on building the most robust, hyper-personalized and configurable patient engagement and research platform,” CEO and co-founder Eliran Malki said in a statement. “Starting with Belong — beating cancer together, we quickly grew to become the world’s largest social network and patient navigator app for cancer, collaborating with leading and disruptive researchers and publications in the market.”
He continued: “Now, in addition to increasing our global cancer reach, Belong will bring its capabilities and expertise to additional diseases and stakeholders, to achieve the vision we established at the very beginning.”
The company plans to use this funding to expand its social network as well as its patient engagement platform, which was announced at the end of May. Around 200,000 cancer patients and caregivers use the Belong app for access to information and support, but the company thinks that the company could serve even more.
