Ro, a New York telehealth company that facilitates virtual doctor consultations and medication delivery, just launched a free online coronavirus assessment.

If someone thinks they are at risk of having contracted COVID-19, they can simply plug information about their health, symptoms and travel history into the site. Individuals who are at low risk of having contracted the virus are directed to the company’s Coronavirus Resource Hub, where they are encouraged to continue monitoring their symptoms and can stay up to date on all the latest developments during the pandemic.

Those who are symptomatic or pose a higher risk of having the virus are connected via video to a licensed physician, who will gather more specific information and make recommendations, according to a news release. If the doctor recommends the patient seek in-person care, Ro will provide resources to find a local provider. Suspected cases will also be reported to the necessary health authorities, as required.

The goal of this tool, the company says, is to be a source of information and a safe alternative to going into a hospital or doctor’s office, thus unburdening an already strained healthcare industry. Ro’s assessment is also gathering valuable information about the spread and symptoms of this disease.

Ro’s test is free and available nationwide.
