Cobble, an NYC startup that helps couples plan dates together, announced last week it closed on a $3 million seed round from several angel investors, including Kerr Tech Investments.

Founded earlier this year by CEO Jordan Scott, Cobble was created to help couples share more meaningful experiences together. Users scroll through the app, which is filled with ideas for restaurants, bars, classes, books and movies. Then, like a dating app, the user swipes right on an idea they like. If their partner swiped right on the same thing, then they can schedule a time to do it together.

The goal, Scott says, is to help couples build healthier relationships.

“Launching an app and fundraising during a pandemic as a solo female founder has its challenges but it was the push I needed, especially as a first-time founder,” Scott said in a statement shared with Built In. “We are trying to make it easier for couples to make decisions and communicate in general, because, though it’s cliche, it’s key to the success of most relationships.”

Indeed, the idea seems to be resonating already. Cobble says that, since its initial launch in June, the app has garnered more than 2,000 users that have swiped nearly 200,000 times — all without spending any money on marketing.

Looking ahead, the company says it will use this fresh funding to expand into new cities and make the app more inclusive of other relationship types, including friends, polyamorous couples and groups. Cobble is also hiring, with a handful of open developer and growth roles right now.
