New York tech had a big week. Funding rounds, acquisitions, hiring sprees and more are part of the big news. This is the Built In NYC weekly refresh.
Braze hit $8B valuation. Braze just made its public debut, valuing the company at $8 billion — a significant uptick from when it was last valued at $850 million in 2018 after an $80 million Series E. Braze helps companies collect and manage consumer data to send personalized messages to consumers. It is currently hiring for over 100 roles at its New York headquarters. [Built In NYC]
Conductor raised $150M. The marketing technology company is now valued at $525 million. Previously owned by WeWork, this is the company’s first funding round since regaining its independence. The funding will go towards expanding its marking platform, which focuses on SEO, search traffic and content and web marketing. [TechCrunch]
Kafene gained $75M. Kafene offers a buy now, pay later platform, which allows users to rent an item purchased for them by the NYC-based startup. If the user completes their payments in 12 months, they own the item. If the payments are made in a shorter amount of time, then they’ve purchased the item at a discounted price and boosted their credit score. NYC TECH QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Ribbon raised $43.5M. The Series B funding round was led by General Catalyst along with other familiar investors like Andreessen Horowitz. Ribbon Health works to help patients find the right in-network care, avoiding the hassle of researching on their own. The $43.5 million round will go toward expanding the team and further closing what Ribbon Health calls the “doctor data gap.” [Built In NYC]
nTopology gained $65M. The New York-based software company helps engineers build better technology and tools. Following the Series D round, nTopology has raised $135 million to date. The latest funding round will be used to expand its capabilities and hire additional staff. [nTopology]
GlossGenius gained $19M. The business management platform for beauty and wellness companies is growing after a Series A round. GlossGenius provides a suite handling everything from scheduling payments to analytics. The recent funding will be used to further innovate its product and “significantly” grow its team over the next year. [Built In NYC]
50 NYC companies made the Deloitte 2021 Technology Fast 500 list. The list ranks the fastest-growing technology companies in North American and ranks these businesses based on their revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. New York City faired well with 50 companies making the list, including BigID, Alloy, Attentive and Medly, to name a few. [Built In NYC]
Rapyd and nate partner up. Rapyd, a service and payment company, recently partnered with nate, an AI app that allows users to purchase any item on behalf of a customer. The partnership will focus on the global payments landscape and provide a better experience for consumers. [Yahoo Finance]
Bizzabo acquired Klik. The acquisition will transform in-person events to something immersive and data-driven. Klik is a Montreal-based startup producing wearable technology used to power onsite experiences. Bizzabo is a virtual event management platform based in NYC. [Bizzabo]
