How to Get Started in Web Design, December 19th at 6 p.m.

If you’ve every thought about building your own website from scratch but didn’t know where to start, now you do. This event will give you an introduction to HTML and CSS and teach you how they’re used to lay out webpages and style content.

Winter IoT Demo Fair & Networking Bash, December 20th at 6 p.m.

Seemingly everything in the world is being connected to the internet today and Galvanize is hosting an opportunity to meet some of the people leading the charge to a more connected world. In addition to networking with some of the movers and shakers of the IoT world, there will be product demos and a chance to check out Galvanize’s brand new, New York campus.

NYC’s Largest Tech Entrepreneur Holiday Party, December 20th at 6:30 p.m.

Think of this kind of like your company’s holiday party, only for the whole city’s tech industry. There’ll be party props, networking, music, food and booze. The party will be held at the coworking space LMHQ, which is down in the Financial District.

Web Design Open House, December 20th at 6 p.m.

This is a free, 2-hour meetup where you can learn about what it takes to earn a Web Design or Web Development certificate from Noble Desktop. You’ll meet with instructors, other students and get a tour of their facilities. Is it going to be salesy? Ya, probably. But, if you’re interested in what they’re selling it’s a great opportunity to check it out up close.

VR in Motion and Oculus Touch Demos, December 21st at 6 p.m.

Virtual Reality is going to change the way we experience the world, and you can consider this a sneak peak of the future. You may not have been good enough to get one for Christmas, but at this event you’ll be able to hop onto a bike, put on a helmet and find yourself riding a horse.

That's it for this week. Check out our events page for a full listing of everything happening in NYC tech.
