NYC tech companies raised over $1 billion in June

June was a big month for New York tech. Companies across the city raised a total of $1.06 billion, and the top 5 rounds alone made up $832 million. At the top of the list were companies in real estate, media and fitness. [Built In NYC]

Adtech startup AdHawk leaves beta

AdHawk, an NYC startup that helps businesses manage their Facebook and Google advertising campaigns, just opened its services to the public. The company is focused on bringing sophisticated technology to seemingly “archaic” industries like retail and manufacturing, and is currently on-boarding the 7,000-plus businesses on its wait list. Ikea and Rainmaking partner together for startup bootcamp event at NYU

Home furnishings retailer Ikea and entrepreneur cooperative Rainmaking partnered together to host a startup bootcamp event at NYU. Entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas to a team of representatives and be considered for IKEA Bootcamp, a program that connects up-and-coming companies with access to test labs, engineers, value chain experts and mentors. Spotify expands Lower Manhattan headquarters

Music streaming service Spotify made headlines when it moved its U.S. location to 4 World Trade Center earlier this year. Now, it’s taking all the remaining office space in the building and stretching across three more floors. This signals extreme growth for the company, which recently pledged to create 1,000 new jobs.
