The Atlantic seeks an experienced magazine reporter to cover food culture—producing reported, stylish stories on trends, food science, and culinary life. The role requires breaking news and analysis, strong source cultivation, fast turnaround, editorial judgment, and a sense of humor while translating cultural ideas for a wide audience.

Lead the monetization roadmap to grow subscriptions and ad revenue. Improve subscriber journeys and ad performance, define success metrics, run experiments, and partner cross-functionally to deliver scalable, reliable monetization products using data and AI tools.

Lead visual direction and brand expression across print, web, app, podcasts, video, and events. Manage the art department and oversee design, illustration, and photography to elevate The Atlantic's visual identity while meeting editorial deadlines.

Manage and execute onsite growth experiments and product experiences to drive subscription acquisition. Build and QA tests in Zephr, analyze results, maintain documentation and Airtable systems, and create Looker dashboards. Coordinate cross-functionally with product, engineering, editorial, and creative teams to support partnerships, international expansion, and paywall strategy.

The Senior Art Director will manage and mentor the digital team, shape the visual identity of journalism, and create original illustrations for various projects.

The Senior Editor will oversee staff writers, edit stories, suggest ideas, and ensure timely delivery of editorials while managing newsletters and special projects.

Lead and build The Atlantic Book Club: select and champion titles, commission and edit related essays and interviews, write editor notes, run live and virtual author events, cultivate publisher and author relationships, maintain a pipeline of prospects, and collaborate with Growth, Product, and Audience teams to present and promote the membership offering.

Edit and assign argument-driven essays and analysis on foreign affairs and national security. Commission contributors, turn around freelance pieces quickly, coordinate with art, copy, fact-check and audience teams, and work nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed while maintaining strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.

Write original analysis and reporting for The Daily newsletter several times weekly; monitor domestic and international news; find fresh angles; meet tight daily deadlines; coordinate with editors and engage reader responses to shape coverage.
