Design
Own the embedded Linux platform for x86 field devices, including UEFI secure boot, signed kernels and modules, TPM2-based LUKS2 encryption, kernel compilation, kernel module development, USB integration, and udev configuration. The role requires strong C, Bash, and Python skills, with Yocto, Buildroot, hardware debugging, and USB gadget experience preferred. This is a full-time freelance hybrid role requiring onsite work in Brooklyn every other week.
Design
Temporary hardware systems engineer supporting one or two client projects. Responsibilities include complex PCB layout in Altium, circuit and embedded systems design, microcontroller and sensor integration, electronics DFMA, consumer appliance development, manual board assembly and rework, regulatory-compliant design, and Git-based collaboration. The role is onsite in Brooklyn at least four days per week and may transition to full-time employment.
