  • Attends company functions, including trainings programs, speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that provide opportunities for career growth and personal development.

Job Description Summary 

The Technical Rotational Associate assists with recurring tasks across multiple areas of an organization's overall information technology (IT) infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration of IT systems software, hardware and databases, data processing operations, end user technology.  

This job gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, and exploring business-specific tasks to better understand the organization. This job participates in a robust training and onboarding program followed by an ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities. 

Rotational Program Areas:  

Chief Technology Office - The CTO organization provides and supports enterprise technology and frameworks that deliver reliable, stable, and secure infrastructure for our clients and partners. We are the technological backbone of the company, ensuring that our systems operate efficiently, securely, and at scale. During their rotations, Technical Rotational Associates will have the opportunity to: 

  • Gain hands on experience in working with cutting-edge cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) 
  • Learn the fundamentals of modern data center management 
  • Participate in network security implementations 
  • Contribute to mobile application development and strategy 
  • Learn about IT service management frameworks 

Global Cybersecurity & Fraud Management - responsible for keeping pace with the ever-changing threat landscape and handling the identification and remediation of information technology risks. Global Cybersecurity is responsible for effectively detecting, responding to, and mitigating computer security incidents, and managing the security technology that safeguards the company's information assets from cybersecurity threats and attacks. 

  • Gain hands-on experience in areas such as cybersecurity operations, network and cloud security, incident response, threat analysis, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and AI-driving security solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security throughout the business and technology ecosystem.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on the latest industry trends and technology advancements and drive a culture of shared accountability for cybersecurity.

Corporate Technology Data & AI Office - Technical Rotational Associates will have the unique opportunity to explore a wide range of technology and data-driven applications while making a tangible impact across TIAA. An ideal candidate is passionate about technology, data, and artificial intelligence, has strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, is eager to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with an interest in exploring different aspects of technology and data-driven innovation. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technology solutions that support corporate functions such as finance, actuarial, HR, legal, risk and compliance. 
  • Gain hands-on experience in areas such as data analysis, data engineering, software development, business analysis, project management, cloud, AI and machine learning.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of advanced data analytics and AI models to solve business problems. 
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on the latest industry trends and technology advancements. 

    Nuveen Technology - the investment manager of TIAA and offers a comprehensive range of outcome-focused investment solutions designed to secure the long-term financial goals of institutional and individual investors. 

    Key Responsibilities and Duties 

    • Handles information technology support requests and procedures across the enterprise network in an efficient and timely manner. 
    • Assists with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of software applications to ensure the smooth running of information technology operations. 
    • Performs clerical duties such as organizing documents, maintaining files, photocopying, and faxing. 
    • Assists in preparing information and research materials, including PowerPoint presentations. 
    • Takes notes during meetings and provides to team members. 
    • Researches and gathers documentation as directed by colleagues. 
    • Attends company functions, including trainings programs, speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that provide opportunities for career growth and personal development. 

    Additional Requirements:  

    • Participation in TIAA’s Summer Internship Program preferred  
    • Must have graduated with a Bachelor's degree or higher prior to the program's start date

    • We're looking for candidates who demonstrate strong technical aptitude and curiosity, excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, adaptability and eagerness to learn, collaborative mindset, leadership potential. 

    Corporate Data & AI Office  

    • Skills/Competencies: Skillsets in data analysis, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, data science, business intelligence, application development, project management, and business analysis are desired. 
    • Preferred Technical Skills: Python (Pandas, Spark, etc.), Snowflake, SQL, NoSQL databases, Business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.), Java, AWS, Azure & similar cloud technologies  

    Global Cybersecurity & Fraud Management 

    • Skillsets/Competencies: Readiness to continuously learn and grow technical skills relevant to analyst and engineering roles.  
    • Besides technical skills, cyber associates are team players, work at a fast pace, and have problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 
    • Preferred Technical Skills: Exposure to scripting languages.  

    Nuveen Technology  

    • Skillsets/Competencies: Software Development and Coding, Architecture & Engineering, Data Science & Engineering, Business Analysis, Financial Analysis and Process Identification, Asset Management, Communication and Presentations skills, Team Leadership and Collaboration 
    • Preferred Technical Skills: Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java, XML, Oracle SQL and T-SQL, R, Tableau, all C languages, C++, Advanced Excel using Power SQL and Power BI, Machine Learning and AI, Database Engineering, Cloud, AWS Sagemaker, Git Lab, Jira, Snowflak

    Base Pay Range: $71,000/yr - $73,000/yr

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
