Program Description:

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship provides outstanding undergraduate students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience with a unique institution. Through project work assignments and professional development activities, sophomore interns are provided with both an introduction to professional life, and an understanding of the work of the New York Fed.

Sophomore interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks and have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank. At the end of the program, students leave with strong skills, professional connections, and meaningful experiences that will support them in their long-term careers.

Our Unique Work:

  • The Operations and Resiliency Group operates and oversees payments system processing for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.  This group includes the Bank’s Cash and Custody, Law Enforcement Unit, and Business Continuity and Resiliency Teams, and serves as the New York Administrative function for the Federal Reserve Financial Services. The group is dedicated to strengthening, supporting, and ensuring the resilience of many of the Bank’s essential on-site operations.

How You’ll Make an Impact as an Operations and Resiliency Intern (Sophomore)

  • Strong Academic Record: Evidence of excellent academic performance.

  • Passion for Data Analysis: A keen interest in analyzing data to drive insights and decisions.

  • High Interest in Business Operations, Banking or Economics: A demonstrated enthusiasm for these areas.

  • Commitment to Public Service: A passion for contributing to the public good through their work.

  • Detail Oriented: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Acrobat

  • Team Player: Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Ability to think on one’s feet, multi-task, plan, organize and implement process improvements

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent written, verbal and influencing communication skills

Salary Range: Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary of $65,600.

We pay individuals along this range based on their unique backgrounds. Whether you’re stretching into the job or are a more seasoned candidate, we aim to pay competitively for your contributions

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information. Access to CSI and FOMC information is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals who meet the definition of “protected individual” under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. All non-U.S. citizens authorized to access CSI and/or FOMC information must sign a declaration of intent to expeditiously become a lawful permanent resident and thereafter a U.S. citizen when eligible.
