The Opportunity

Trumid is a technology-driven electronic trading platform in the U.S. fixed income markets. As a regulated broker-dealer, compliance with applicable laws and regulations is central to our business. Our Legal & Compliance team partners with Product, Engineering, and Trading to support innovation while maintaining strong regulatory controls.  Trumid seeks a highly motivated law student to join its Legal & Compliance team for Summer 2026. This role provides hands-on exposure to broker-dealer regulation in a live trading environment, with substantive responsibility across supervisory, regulatory, and governance initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

Product & Cross-Functional Support

  • Support legal and compliance review of new product initiatives.
  • Research regulatory considerations relating to market structure, data governance, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Help embed legal and compliance considerations into business and technology workflows.

Regulatory & Supervisory Matters

  • Assist with regulatory applications, filings, and reporting (SEC, FINRA, CFTC).
  • Monitor and summarize regulatory developments and enforcement trends.
  • Support examination readiness and regulatory response efforts.
  • Draft and update Written Supervisory Procedures (WSPs) and compliance policies.
  • Assist with internal controls related to money laundering and conflicts of interest

Surveillance, Testing & Risk

  • Support trade surveillance follow-up and compliance testing.
  • Assist in documenting findings and strengthening internal controls.
  • Conduct regulatory research relevant to electronic trading platforms.

Legal Operations

  • Assist with review and management of participant agreements, vendor contracts, and onboarding documentation.
  • Support contract tracking and internal approval processes.

About you.

  • Rising 3L at an accredited U.S. law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Demonstrated interest in securities regulation, broker-dealer compliance, or financial markets.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment.

In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the hourly pay range for this role in New York City is between $30 – $38 per hour. Several factors are considered when determining a candidate’s compensation, including academic standing, relevant experience, and qualifications. Please note that the hourly range listed for this position is based on the level of experience outlined in the job description. If a candidate’s experience differs from the requirements, the hourly rate may be adjusted accordingly.
