The Account Director, Global Strategic Accounts is a senior, high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end ownership of a global strategic enterprise account. Acting as the general manager of the account, this individual is accountable for partnership strategy, executive relationships, program success, commercial outcomes, and long-term growth.


The Account Director serves as Thrive’s primary senior point of contact for client stakeholders across regions and functions. This individual also leads a dedicated team responsible for program planning, cross-functional coordination, reporting, and global service delivery. Working closely with Sales, Product, Content, Coaching, and Executive Leadership, the Account Director ensures that Thrive delivers exceptional value, measurable outcomes, and sustainable account growth. This individual also partners with an Executive Sponsor on key executive engagements and complex cross-functional escalations.

How You'll Contribute

Strategic Partnership Ownership

  • Own the overall health, success, and growth of the partnership.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior client stakeholders, building deep relationships across HR, Wellbeing, Benefits, Learning, and regional leadership.
  • Shape and evolve the long-term partnership strategy, aligning Thrive’s offerings to the customer’s business priorities and workforce needs.
  • Define account priorities and translate them into clear goals for the account team.
  • Own the customer’s overall engagement strategy, identifying opportunities to drive adoption, sustained participation, and value across regions and employee populations.
  • Lead success planning with the customer, agreeing on shared goals, measures of success, and priorities, and ensuring those commitments are translated into an actionable plan.
  • Lead quarterly and annual business reviews, partnering with the Executive Sponsor on senior-level client engagement.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex account issues, engaging the Executive Sponsor when needed to ensure swift resolution and preservation of trust.

Commercial Ownership & Growth

  • Own retention, renewal readiness, and expansion strategy for the account.
  • Identify and close opportunities to expand Thrive’s footprint across regions, business units, and solution areas.
  • Lead account-level decisions on priorities, scope, and resource needs, balancing client requests with contractual commitments and long-term partnership goals.
  • Resolve scope and prioritization questions escalated by the account team, establishing clear expectations with clients and internal partners.
  • Partner with the Executive Sponsor and cross-functional leaders to secure support and resolve issues requiring broader alignment or approval.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop account team leaders, with responsibility for hiring, performance management, coaching, and prioritization.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, goals, and decision-making authority, enabling each leader to own their respective function.
  • Provide strategic direction and resolve escalations while maintaining accountability for the account’s overall performance.
  • Stay hands-on with key initiatives, executive engagements, and high-visibility moments, with day-to-day planning and delivery led by the team.
  • Support team leaders in developing a global delivery team, ensuring consistency, quality, and local relevance across regions.

Program & Delivery Excellence

  • Partner closely with account team leaders to ensure high-quality global execution and alignment between account strategy and delivery.
  • Oversee major program milestones, global campaigns, and progress against agreed success metrics and performance commitments.
  • Use engagement, utilization, and impact data to guide strategy, identify risks, and demonstrate value to client stakeholders.
  • Act as the voice of the partnership internally, synthesizing insights and feedback to inform Product, Content, Coaching, and GTM strategy.
  • Continuously refine the partnership approach to meet the needs of a complex, global, matrixed organization.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Commercial ownership: Direct accountability for renewals and expansion on a large, complex account, with examples of retaining at-risk business and closing growth opportunities.
  • Executive relationship management: Experience navigating multiple senior stakeholders, competing priorities, and difficult client conversations.
  • Managing managers: Experience leading and developing managers who oversee their own teams, with clear accountability for performance and delivery.
  • Global program delivery: Oversight of an ongoing service or program across regions, with accountability for quality, engagement, and measurable outcomes.
  • Scope and resource decisions: Experience handling requests beyond the agreed scope, setting realistic commitments, and securing cross-functional support.

Compensation:

Base compensation for this role will likely fall in the $175,000-$215,000 range.

  • Please note: We provide a competitive mix of salary, performance bonus, and equity. The final offer amount will depend on factors like experience, expertise, and may differ from the range above. This range also excludes additional benefits, such as 401(k), and medical, dental, or vision insurance.
