The Capital Markets Accounting team sits at the center of Coinbase's expanding retail and institutional businesses, providing the accounting foundation for our registered Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and Broker-Dealer entities. As an Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while supporting some of Coinbase's fastest-growing businesses.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll partner with Accounting, Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to support new product launches, strengthen financial processes, and help scale the infrastructure behind Coinbase's capital markets platform.

What you'll do
  • Support the monthly close for Coinbase's FCM and Broker-Dealer entities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings to the CFTC, NFA, and other applicable regulators, ensuring accurate and timely execution of daily, monthly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by coordinating documentation, responding to audit requests, and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Execute and maintain internal controls over accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance processes.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to support accounting readiness for new product launches and evolving business initiatives.
  • Monitor regulatory capital and liquidity requirements, escalating issues as needed while helping improve operational processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting workflows through scalable processes and thoughtful use of technology.
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 3–5 years of public accounting (Big Four preferred) and/or industry experience within Broker-Dealer, FCM, asset management, investment advisory, or other regulated financial services organizations.
  • Experience supporting financial close, regulatory reporting, audits, and internal controls in a regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of FINRA/SEC Broker-Dealer regulations, CFTC/NFA requirements for registered FCMs, and accounting guidance including ASC 815 (Derivatives and Hedging) and 17 CFR 1.20.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work Eastern Time hours to support daily regulatory filing deadlines.
  • Experience using generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining appropriate human oversight and delivering high-quality results.

Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

$108,630$127,800 USD
