Department Hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

The Pay Range:

$25.38 - $34.98 per hour

 Our compensation structure is designed to accommodate candidates with diverse levels of expertise and experience, offering opportunities for growth over time. The target hiring range for this role is $25.38- $28.58



A day in the life of an ACU ACCOUNTANT II:

  • Prepare and review complex general ledger reconciliations and account activity, identify the cause of discrepancies, recommend corrective entries, and coordinate resolution with appropriate departments or service providers.
  • Complete assigned daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities accurately and within established close and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in month-end close procedures
  • Ensure accurate accounting for the fixed asset and prepaid asset portfolios. Prepare depreciation schedules and catalog furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Assist with the accounts payable process
  • Prepare recurring and nonroutine journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections, with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Work with Controller and other Accounting staff to prepare for annual external audits and NCUA examinations
  • Respond to accounting-related questions from branches and departments, research transaction discrepancies, and provide accurate guidance or route matters to the appropriate resource.
  • Provide exceptional service to all members, volunteers, staff, and service providers
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly NCUA Call Report and other regulatory reports
  • Assist with credit union investment functions including purchases, balancing, and recordkeeping
  • Provide cross-training and technical support to other Accounting team members.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
  • Assist in reviewing and updating departmental procedures
  • Perform complex accounting tasks with minimal oversight
  • Apply and evaluate internal controls within assigned accounting processes and promptly communicate identified control gaps or unusual activity.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, consistent with the general scope and level of the position.
Qualifications

Education: 
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience. Two years of progressively responsible accounting experience required; financial institution experience preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Practices 
  • Proficient using computers and software including Symitar, Excel, Microsoft Word, 10-Key calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve and research when necessary
  • Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well organized
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
  • Intermediate mathematical and account skills
