Company Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join us at Ennismore.  In the role of Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the team on the day-to-day management and successful operation of one of our hotels.  You’ll work very closely with a multitude of stakeholders to ensure the overall success of the hotel.

Job Description

The Accounting Manager will be based out of one of our New York hotels and will be a vital team member who is able to work under strict deadlines and successfully support the financial aspects of our business.

You will work closely with all members of the hotel team and must possess great interpersonal and communication skills.

You need to have a solid understanding of GAAP, learn quickly, multitask and adapt to changes. Prior hospitality experience and strong Excel skills are highly desirable.

What you'll do...

  • Support with the month end ledger close including journal entry preparation and review. Utilizing critical thinking and best judgement with reoccurring and new monthly expenses. Making timely adjustments to ensure complete accuracy.
  • Prepare account reconciliations after month end close. Catching new or error reconciliations, researching and utilizing analytical skills to correctly and accurate record for month end.
  • Point person for entire business entity requiring full leadership and management. Full-cycle accounting for the entity needed including invoicing, scheduling, correspondence, reconciliation, and decision making.
  • Coordinate with other entities as needed to record monthly allocations and chargebacks to other business units and properties.
  • Support the accounts payable function to a certain threshold, ensuring invoices are properly coded, approved timely, and posted to the general ledger. Flagging necessary payments to Director of Finance.
  • Manage accounts receivable and revenue collection functions, including preparing, distributing, and posting invoices, and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and support tasks associated with credit memos, collections, and cash applications
  • Assist in preparing account analyses and sub-schedules needed for monthly reporting
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Support with the preparation of the annual financial statements in conjunction with the annual financial statement audit
  • Integral in internal/external audits and audit reviews of the property’s financial records (Ex: Payroll Audits). Report challenges and timely updates Director of Finance as needed. 
  • Ensure audit deadlines are met at all times.
  • Facilitate internal management reporting as needed
  • Respond to customer and vendor inquiries as needed
  • Other ad hoc duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred
  • 5+ years of total accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with effective organizational skills
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry is required
  • Must be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and present accurately
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel
  • Knowledge of Opera, SUN and Blackline is preferred but not required

The base pay for this role is starting at $80,000.
