Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing the monthly and quarterly close process, supporting technical accounting matters, and enhancing financial reporting and analysis. This role will partner closely with the Controller and broader finance team to improve efficiency, ensure accuracy, and support audit and acquisition-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and streamline the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely completion, accuracy, and proper documentation.
  • Assist with the calculation of acquisition-related intangibles and earnouts; maintain supporting schedules and perform ongoing reconciliations.
  • Support and/or co-lead year-end audit deliverables in partnership with the Controller and external auditors.
  • Enhance and streamline account reconciliations, financial statements, management reporting, and analysis through automation tools such as SmartView or other reporting solutions.
  • Develop and maintain streamlined operating expense (Opex) reporting, including vendor-level analysis and expense variance analysis.
  • Research applicable accounting guidance and prepare clear, well-supported accounting memos.
  • Review and approve journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements as part of the close process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, controls, and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and SUMIFS.
  • Solid understanding of accounting systems, data structures, and financial system functionality.
  • Experience reviewing and preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NetSuite experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or OLAP cubes.
  • CPA license is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry or financial services is a plus.
