Serves as the EMCNL actuarial data steward, managing large and complex actuarial databases, including the maintenance of documentation and infrastructure. Performs assigned valuation and financial projections. Maintains the integrity of calculations within the sales illustration system. Completes and validates periodic reporting. Represents the actuarial team on various cross functional teams.
Essential Functions:
- Performs and updates all changes to the actuarial team SQL databases
- Maintains documentation of the actuarial team SQL databases and how data flows through the database, and the reasoning for the design
- Maintains the data infrastructure (tables, keys, schema, etc.) in a precise, consistent way
- Leads the data driven aspects of product pricing, assumption setting, and modeling
- Identifies ways to improve the data infrastructure. Makes recommendations to actuarial leadership and implements changes
- Runs the actuarial software to calculate reserves
- Runs the actuarial software to calculate asset and liability durations
- Builds and updates reports of actuarial reserves in SQL
- Validates the accuracy of actuarial valuation and financial projection work using Excel
- Serves as a subject matter expert and maintains the sales illustration system by continuously checking the accuracy of calculations and adding new products to the system as they are developed.
- Produces periodic reports and analysis including reports of reserve calculations for reinsurers, recommends rates for interest sensitive products for the interest rate team, and death claims analysis.
- Represents the EMCNL actuarial team on various cross functional teams such as reinsurance and product implementation and chairs the interest rate team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or statistics or related field
- Two year of actuarial experience
- Three actuarial exams or equivalent relevant experience
- Additional experience, exams, or graduate level coursework may be considered in meeting the requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of statistics and probability
- Strong knowledge of various computer software, such as Excel and Word
- Strong knowledge of database computer software (Access, SQL, etc.) preferred
- Excellent analytical, investigation and problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following:
$72,726 - $99,800 or $79,834 - $99,800A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
