We are looking for a visible, hands-on clinical leader who can coach employees, strengthen clinical practice, solve problems, and step onto a medication or treatment cart when residents and staff need support.

ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Do as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN:
  • Partner with the Director of Nursing to oversee daily nursing operations and maintain high standards of resident care.

  • Assume the duties of the Director of Nursing in their absence under the direction of the Administrator.

  • Recruit, interview, hire, schedule, supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing personnel.

  • Help determine staffing needs and maintain adequate 24-hour nursing coverage.

  • Develop staff assignments, delegate responsibilities, and support the training and development of nurses and nursing assistants.

  • Serve as Infection Control Preventionist and support infection prevention, safety, compliance, and education initiatives.

  • Make daily clinical rounds, assess resident care needs, and ensure nursing services are delivered according to accepted standards.

  • Monitor medication administration, treatment schedules, documentation, and the reporting of medication errors.

  • Oversee admissions, readmissions, and resident eligibility for Medicare skilled services.

  • Coordinate rehabilitation and therapeutic services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

  • Participate in audits, quality-improvement activities, interdisciplinary care planning, and discharge planning.

  • Complete required clinical and administrative documentation, reports, evaluations, and studies.

  • Provide direct nursing care and support nursing-department functions when needed.

Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) Position:

Required
  • Degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or another related healthcare setting.
  • Working knowledge of geriatric and complex long-term care, nursing management, supervision, organizational practices, and effective communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a leadership team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, employees, visitors, providers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to meet applicable pre-employment health-screening requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at the level necessary to support resident safety and effective workplace communication.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Previous long-term care experience.
  • Computer proficiency.
