Job Description

We’re looking for an AML Investigations Team Lead to join our team in Austin. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission by helping identify suspicious activity and through that keep Wise compliant. You personally can help us get closer to our mission of Money Without Borders! You will help us build a team in Austin and get to join a larger team distributed in 5 different offices around the world.

The AML Investigation Team Lead is a people lead with a mindset that allows them to lead and support team members and build effective operational processes. Our investigators' daily task is to analyse payment patterns and identify suspicious activity. Lead's responsibility is to make sure investigators have all the right tools to do that and we are doing it the most efficient way.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Build, lead and develop AML operational team with a strong sense of community
  • Have a strong ownership either over operational management and people leading or specific function within AML investigations domain
  • Develop effective operational processes, task allocation, training and performance management to deliver regulatory obligations, risk management, quality assurance and great customer experience with a tightly managed cost base
  • Developing and maintaining documentation of processes and projects within their area
  • Measure and work towards improving team KPIs and meeting SLAs
  • Work with other leads, product team and compliance teams to manage operational impact of changes and identify opportunities to improve the customer experience, increase automation or improve operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years previous experience as a team lead in financial crime or US AML experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
  • You have a good understanding of and ability to analyze and move team’s metrics, while assisting different area specialists
  • You have proven track record of taking ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and self-organize
  • Strong communicator with ability to build and manage cross-team relationships
  • You have great communication and presentations skills to assist on internal and external projects and audits

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Salary: $95,000 yearly.
  • This is a hybrid position located in Austin, Texas, and not fully remote. You must be able to commute to the office or open to relocation.
  • You’re eligible to work in the US, we cannot sponsor Visas for this role.
