Position Summary:
The Analyst will join an experienced team operating in a dynamic and fast-paced sales and trading environment. This individual will support functions related to our Fixed Income electronic trading platform (DirectPool) and secondary fixed income credit trading business. The analyst will collaborate closely with professionals across trading, sales, and operations to assist with the analysis, evaluation, origination, execution, and settlement of fixed income corporate and high yield bond transactions. DirectPool is CastleOak’s fixed income electronic bond trading solution, powered by Bloomberg. DirectPool is an institutional liquidity pool comprised of approximately 300 investment managers, dealers, and proprietary algorithms. This platform enables fixed income traders to access corporate liquidity seamlessly through its unique participant pool. It combines the efficiency of electronic trading with the value of a human touch.
This role is part of our broader two-year Fixed Income Sales & Trading analyst program, designed to provide a hands-on apprenticeship alongside seasoned professionals. The program is intended to develop future leaders in Fixed Income sales or trading, depending on the candidate’s performance, aptitude, and interest.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support the electronic trading and secondary credit trading business through data analysis, trade support, and workflow coordination.
- Collaborate with trading and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely execution and settlement of trades.
- Develop a strong understanding of client workflows to support electronic credit trading execution.
- Build, maintain, and enhance proprietary spreadsheets and database tools to manage and organize market intelligence and client data effectively.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn the business from the ground up, including corporate and high yield bonds, trading operations, and applicable compliance regulations.
- Gain proficiency in both industry-standard and proprietary electronic trading and research platforms in order to contribute to analysis supporting business development efforts.
- Drive and support marketing initiatives to expand our client reach and strengthen our presence in the trading and sales landscape.
- Assist senior sales professionals with client outreach, relationship management, cross-selling efforts, and timely response to client inquiries.
- Contribute to sales and trading initiatives through targeted project work that enhances team efficiency and client engagement.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic track record
- Demonstrated passion for capital markets and a strong desire to pursue a career in Fixed Income sales or trading.
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently as well as within a collaborative team environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving skills; tenacious, resourceful, and solutions-oriented.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with solid skills in Word, PowerPoint, and database applications.
- Foundational understanding of credit and rates products, along with macroeconomic principles.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading floor environment.
- Excellent analytical, time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a strong desire to exceed performance goals.
- Candidates must be eligible to hold and be willing to promptly obtain FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses within a 6-month period.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in financial modeling
- Working knowledge of Salesforce
- Working knowledge of Python, SQL, C++, C#
- Experience working with large sets of data and data extraction
- Completion of analyst training programs or courses
Compensation:
- Base salary is expected to range between $75,000 – $80,000, depending on experience
- Eligible for discretionary bonus
- Additional flexibility may be offered to candidates with prior relevant experience
