About the position:

Junior relationship manager focused on delivering financial solutions that meet the needs of financial sponsors across the ING global network.  Assist senior relationship managers to carry out comprehensive sector, business and financial profile analysis with a product neutral view to deliver multi-product financing, capital markets, banking, and advisory solutions to financial sponsor clients.

About the department:

The Financial Sponsors Group (‘FSG’) is a global team covering ING’s largest financial sponsor (private capital) relationships by income and exposure. Our primary responsibility is to manage these relationships, coordinating across products and geographies (i.e. Americas, EMEA, APAC) to explore and maximise cross-buy opportunities. This involves leading the sponsor relationship dialogue and regular coordination with leveraged finance, capital markets & advisory, fund finance, financial markets, transaction services and other sector teams across the ING Network.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Origination/Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop a sound understanding of FI’s strategy and support senior relationship managers in executing ING’s client coverage model for each relationship.
  • Prepare high‑quality pitch books and client materials and complete detailed annual client relationship plans and account analyses.
  • Assist in the origination for products from all relevant ING business lines including Financial Markets (e.g. repo, fixed income trading, FX), Lending (e.g. infrastructure, energy, real estate, fund finance, etc.), Capital Markets & Advisory, and Transaction Services (i.e. cash management and trade).
  • Contribute to commercial green light memos, credit applications, modifications, and credit reviews, as well as.  Research & Analysis:
  • Provide client data, peer analysis, and background information to facilitate business development.
  • Assist the senior coverage banker in identifying critical business issues and potential business/cross-sell opportunities.
  • Track leveraged credit and other relevant industry segments and create client‑friendly analyses of market conditions.
  • Stay well-informed on industry trends and the position of competitors and assist in identification of new market opportunities.
  • Liaise with other product specialists and departments throughout ING, including risk management, financial markets, portfolio management, syndications, and KYC.

Data Management and Teamwork:

  • Support non-financial risk initiatives such as KYC onboarding and client account monitoring.
  • Maintain and monitor data quality, keeping required internal systems up to date, including pipeline and financials.
  • Report on client profitability, capital consumption, and portfolio company performance.
  • Proactively engage with ING teams across the globe to understand local client initiatives and learn from the respective products.

Candidate Profile:

Experience/Personal Competencies:

  • 1+ years of relevant banking experience, ideally in financial sponsors or leveraged finance
  • Bachelor’s degree Economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or related fields.
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including LBO modelling and underwriting memo preparation
  • Curiosity about product types and sectors, from leveraged loans to energy.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, strong work ethic, and ability to manage multiple priorities at once.

Salary Range $105,000-$115,000

The salary range listed reflects base salary only. This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus program.
